The English Department aims to provide students with a lively, varied, accessible yet ambitious curriculum. We encourage students to become critical readers of both fiction and non-fiction texts, whilst supporting their development into confident, articulate speakers. In the year 2017/18, we have trips planned to poetry live in Brighton as well as a performance of An Inspector Calls in London.

In Year 10 and Y11, students prepare for GCSE English Language Paper One (19th C Fiction and producing Imaginative writing), GCSE English Language Paper Two (Reading Non-Fiction texts and producing transactional writing).
