In 2017 we expanded the subjects taught at the UTC by creating our new Technical Skills Centre (TSC). This means that, as well as offering GCSEs and post-16 science, technology, maths and engineering subjects, we also now offer post-16 and adult qualifications in electrical installation and plumbing.

A Great Career is Closer Than You Think

The Technical Skills Centre is responding to the needs of industry by helping to develop skills which are needed throughout the U.K. We will provide our students with the practical experience needed to launch their careers.

The Government has said it will build 1 million houses throughout the country within the next five years. The construction sector must recruit more than 400,000 workers a year if this demand is to be met. Over the same time period there are plans to transform Newhaven. Our industry partners will play a key role in this and as one of our students we would want you to be part of it too. We will provide you with the training to succeed within the plumbing or electrical industries and give you the opportunity to put these skills to the test with local employers involved in the regeneration of the area.

We are for local young people who want to spend less time travelling to college and more time getting the qualifications and experience they need to work in this growing industry. By choosing to study with us you will learn in new facilities which have excellent transport access from Seaford, Peacehaven, Lewes and many other local areas.

Learn the Skills Employers Need

Our Technical Skills Centre combines studying for qualifications with a high level of interaction with local employers. Employers such as KSD Support Services, a leading national building services employer based in East Sussex, who is actively seeking local talent to recruit as apprentices.

We work closely with all sectors of the building services industry to offer a range of level 1 and 2 qualifications in electrical installation and plumbing services. These are delivered in outstanding facilities at the UTC by our team of specialist tutors who are experts in their fields. They maintain close links with their respective industries in order to ensure you receive the qualifications, training and skills that employers want.
